Top 5 Memorization Tricks for Students

One of the biggest fears of every student is that their mind will go blank as soon as they enter their examination hall.  Each and every student has a limitless memory capacity. Storing memory is not a problem for students as their mind can hold everything, but recalling or accessing the information from the brain becomes an issue for some students.

Top 5 Memorization Tricks for Students

Students can follow educational apps which provide tips and video lessons to help improve memorization skills.

Here are some memorization tricks which can help students boost their memory easily.

Convert word to pictures

Since memory is strengthened by emotion, exaggeration, colour, and action, the more detailed and interesting the image, the better. Human beings naturally remember visual signs better than words. And the more senses we involve in storing data or learning something, the better we are able to recall it. For example: suppose a student has to submit a project to her teacher at 10 a.m. in the morning. She can commit her task to memorize by visualizing the proposal, like - a bunch of files - on the top of it a clock that reads “10 a.m.” Making the picture vivid is the main task.

Use mnemonics
Mnemonics are one of the best ways to memorize things. Mnemonics involves translating information into an easier form that students can remember easily. The most common way of doing it is by taking the first letters of the phrase of the information that needs to be remembered and making a memorable or funny word with it. Mnemonics are very common in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Math. Students can follow certain mathematics apps which provide interesting mnemonics. An example of math mnemonics is: King Henry Died By Drinking Chocolate Milk
Kilo, Hecto, Deca, Base, Deci, Centi, Milli
Students can memorize the metric system with the help of this mnemonic.

Meditation
Meditation is the best way that helps students stay focused while they are studying. Meditation not only helps the students concentrate during studying but it also helps them reduce stress and improves both physical and mental health. Every student should meditate at least 1 hour daily as it helps to increase concentration power which in turn boosts the memory.

Draw diagrams
Drawing diagrams can help students to visualize the information which is hard to describe. By drawing diagram, a visual memory is created in the mind of the student which can be easily recalled during an examination. For example, learning the mechanics of the human heart can be a lot easier if a student studies it by drawing the diagram of the human heart.

Sound sleep and study breaks
According to research when a student sleeps for 15 to 20 minutes after studying a topic, the brain relearns and reviews the topics in the sleep. This is a natural memory enhancement process which all students should follow. Students should also take regular study breaks to help the brain absorb more information and keep them focused and motivated when they are studying.
